Building AI capability through collaboration: Coretura, Hubbau, and TokenTek rethink how AI competence is developed

As demand for AI capability accelerates, organizations are discovering that building long-term competence is harder than launching pilots or running isolated initiatives. What ultimately limits progress is not ambition, but the ability to build, retain, and continuously evolve AI capability as the technology itself is evolving faster than organizations can adapt.

This challenge is the starting point for an AI Specialist Graduate Program currently running at Coretura, developed jointly with Hubbau and TokenTek. The program, which started in early February, combines long-term talent development with continuously updated applied AI expertise — embedded directly in a real production environment.

Across many organizations, AI initiatives deliver early results, but ownership and continuity often lag behind. When projects or engagements end, teams are often left without the ownership, continuity, and internal capability required to keep AI systems running, evolving, and delivering value over time.

This program is designed to address that gap by building AI capability inside the organization from day one. Participants are employed by Hubbau and embedded full-time within Coretura’s teams, following a structured specialist track that ensures continuity, retention, and long-term development rather than short-term delivery.



Distinct roles, shared outcome

Each partner plays a clearly defined role — and it is the combination of these roles that enables sustainable AI capability.

Coretura provides real systems, data, and production-grade use cases where AI is applied in practice. Hubbau is responsible for the long-term talent model: recruiting, employing, and developing early-career engineers through a structured program designed to build internal capability over time.

TokenTek contributes deep applied AI expertise grounded in day-to-day delivery with customers. As a specialist company working continuously with the latest generative AI and agent systems in production, TokenTek ensures that what is taught in the program reflects current engineering practices, real constraints, and how AI solutions are actually built, operated, and evolved today — not static curricula or theoretical models.

Together, this creates a model where talent, expertise, and real delivery are developed in parallel, allowing internal AI competence to grow and stay current as the technology evolves.

Beyond training and consulting

The program deliberately sits outside traditional categories. It is not a short-term consulting engagement, and it is not a classroom-based training initiative. Instead, it integrates learning, delivery, and employment into a single model that allows AI competence to develop alongside real responsibility inside real teams.

Coretura partners with Hubbau and TokenTek to launch AI specialist graduate program

Coretura, the software joint venture created by Volvo Group and Daimler Trucks, today announces the launch of its AI Specialist Program, a 12-month initiative designed to accelerate the development of early-career software engineers with advanced AI capabilities.

Developed in partnership with Hubbau and TokenTek, the program aims to build one of the industry’s strongest pipelines of AI-ready engineering talent as commercial vehicles rapidly transition toward software-defined architectures.

The program begins February 3rd, 2026 at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg. Participants will be employed by Hubbau and work full-time as consultants at Coretura. Upon completion, the ambition is for participants to continue their careers with Coretura.

Preparing engineers for the software-defined vehicle era

A full year of hands-on training in applied AI

During the 12-month journey, participants receive specialized training from TokenTek; moving from AI fundamentals to advanced practical applications including generative models, agent systems, data pipelines, and multimodal architectures.

The program is targeted at recent graduates with strong programming skills in C++ or Python, an interest in Rust, and experience from AI-related academic or personal projects.

Joint venture aimed at transforming the commercial vehicle industry through a new software-defined vehicle platform and establishing a new industry standard. 

Coretura is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and began operations in the beginning of June 2025. 

Johan Lundén, coming from Volvo Group, has been appointed as CEO of Coretura. 

Coretura is set to grow stepwise aiming to launch its first products in vehicles by the end of the decade.

Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany / Gothenburg, Sweden – Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, two of the leaders in the commercial vehicle industry, announce the launch of Coretura AB, their joint venture aimed at transforming the commercial vehicle industry through a new software-defined vehicle platform and establishing a new industry standard. Coretura will enable Daimler Truck and Volvo Group and other future customers to provide differentiating stand-alone digital vehicle applications for their products. 

Following the binding joint venture agreements signed on October 28, 2024, Daimler Truck and Volvo Group have obtained all required regulatory approvals and have now launched the new company Coretura. Following the joint venture transaction, Coretura, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, began operations in the beginning of June 2025.

Coretura will be led by a four-member Executive Management team consisting of two members from each of the shareholders. Johan Lundén has been appointed as CEO coming from Volvo Group where he previously held responsibility for Strategic Product Planning, Project and Innovation management. 

Unlocking the digital future of commercial vehicles

As commercial vehicles are becoming more digital, the mission of Coretura is to build the non-differentiating core, a standardized and open software-defined vehicle platform and dedicated commercial vehicle operating system. 

Coretura’s activities also include the specification and procurement of centralized high-performance control units at scale dedicated for commercial vehicles and capable of handling large amounts of data. This will enable the decoupling of software and hardware development cycles, allowing end customers to purchase and update digital applications wirelessly ‘over the air,’ enhancing safety, efficiency and customer experience.

Starting with around 50 employees, Coretura is set to grow stepwise. This allows the shareholders to pool resources and invest in accordance with technical progress and achievement of milestones. Coretura thereby follows a collaborative co-development approach with its customers, aiming to launch its first products in vehicles by the end of the decade. 

Daimler Truck and Volvo Group will remain competitors and continue to differentiate their range of product and services offerings, including their respective digital solutions.
